Bible Trivia: Can I get an “Amen”?
.
.
Answer: You can get lots of them in the Bible: hundreds of times with various uses. The current usage of the word “amen”, has become little more than a ritualistic conclusion to prayers. Jesus introduces His teachings by saying amen lego humin (Greek), that is “truly I say to you,” nearly 70 times. Twenty times in the Gospel of John it is doubled, Amen! Amen! Used for emphasis, but also showing a claim of Jesus’ deity. Today at the end of our prayers, whether we pronounce it “Ahmen or Amen, we should mean, “I agree, so be it, and I’m all in”. Now can I get a “Praise the Lord?”
