John F: NC Testimony
My Testimony: John Ford
On Dec. 1, 1973, when I was 17 years old and a senior at St. Albans High School, I attended a weekend Baptist youth camp held at Camp Virgil Tate (just outside of Charleston, WV)… and there looking out in an open field as I had just finished packing my 59 Chevy Bel Air (named the Batmobile) for the trip home, I knew my life would never be the same. I made a commitment to start living for the Lord Jesus. I was tired of driving the car of my life, with no purpose, but only to please myself. I had sought meaning in my life through sports: playing basketball, baseball, football & running track. I sought recognition through school activities and became student council president in high school. I was looking to fill a void in my life. Even as a youngster, while growing up at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, I was baptized and went through confirmation classes. Yet, I did not understand fully that I was a sinner and was separated from God and I needed a savior to bridge the gap between God and me. Finally I did comprehend that Jesus took all my sin upon Himself on the cross and died and suffered for me to take the anger and wrath away that God had towards me because of my sin. Through the shedding of His blood, and resurrection on the 3rd day, Jesus made a way for me to get to God. I learned that I could talk to God everyday and that I could worship Him everywhere. My life changed to a life of purpose and meaning. I am excited about my new life and future with God, both here on earth and in my future home in heaven. Won’t you make a decision to follow Jesus today? God has a wonderful plan for your life. Let Him be the driver in your car of life. He loves you and knows what is the very best for you. Follow Him today!
